Ahead of the upcoming Lighting + Building 2014 in Frankfurt, Germany, many companies have unveiled products that will be showcased at the show. Korean companies LG and Samsung have announced plans of launching of smart light products, while Cooledge Lighting’s flexible light sheet has caught the attention of some industry insiders. Whether the same trend of smart light, OLED technology, horticultural lighting and street light seen at TILS 2014 will also be seen in Germany remains to be seen.
In addition, some major developments this week include Philips launch of smart LED lights that run on PoE for office applications, and arm Philips Lumileds mid-power LED strategy that focuses on hot color targeting and binning techniques. Recent Taiwanese LED companies financial results also indicate FOREPI will be faced with challenges in 2014, in contrast GPI and Epistar reap benefits from growing LED market.
