With a brightness of up to 6 million nits and a high resolution (<5µm), the display combines energy efficiency with groundbreaking performance, showcasing its potential to overcome major technical challenges and drive the future of next-gen computing.
In 2020, Meta and Plessey entered into an exclusive agreement granting Meta the right to procure all AR displays from Plessey, while Plessey committed to supporting the research and development of Micro LED displays. Plessey reportedly integrates ultra-high-density RGB pixel arrays with high-performance CMOS backplanes in its Micro LED displays, providing image sources with high brightness, low power consumption, and high frame rates.
Plessey is doubling down on its partnership with Meta, committing its manufacturing resources to help develop prototypes and cutting-edge tech for the extended reality (XR) sector under a long-term commercial agreement.
