[News] Regular Meeting of the Korean Display Industry Association Sub-committee on Inorganic Emissive Displays Held Successfully at Seoul Semiconductor & Seoul Viosys October 28, 2025

News Source:

The Inorganic Emissive Display Sub-Committee under the Korea Display Industry Association (KDIA) held its regular meeting at the headquarters of Seoul Semiconductor and Seoul Viosys.
This meeting was organized to discuss collaboration strategies for strengthening industrial competitiveness and driving technological innovation in the Micro LED sector, which is emerging as the key technology for next-generation displays.

In particular, major companies leading Korea’s display industry gathered to share insights on the future development direction of inorganic emissive displays and to discuss strategies for securing leadership in the global market.

More than 40 representatives from leading display and LED companies — including Mr. Jong-moo Huh, Executive Director at Samsung Display; Mr. Jin-young Kang, Team Leader at LG Display; and Mr. Sun-woon Kim, Senior Engineer at Samsung Electronics — attended the event, demonstrating the industry’s keen interest in this field.|

Seoul Semiconductor, a Leader in Micro LED Technology, Shares Its Innovations
At the meeting, Mr. Lee Jeong-hoon, CEO of Seoul Semiconductor and Seoul Viosys and also Chairman of the Inorganic Emissive Display Sub-Committee, presented on the current status and future direction of Micro LED technology.
He showcased a Micro LED display demo applying Seoul Semiconductor’s proprietary WICOP (Wafer Integrated Chip On PCB) technology, demonstrating the company’s strong technological leadership.

The WICOP technology is an innovative solution that mounts LED chips directly onto a substrate at the wafer level without a packaging process, enabling essential performance and cost advantages in Micro LED display manufacturing.
As pioneers of continuous innovation in the opto-semiconductor field, Seoul Semiconductor and Seoul Viosys reaffirmed their leadership by sharing industry know-how and contributing to the advancement of Korea’s display technology ecosystem.

A Platform for Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Toward the Future Display Ecosystem
Beyond simple technology sharing, this regular meeting served as an important milestone in enhancing the competitiveness of Korea’s inorganic emissive display industry ecosystem through close cooperation among industry, academia, and research institutions.
Participants reaffirmed that Micro LED is the core technology for future displays — expanding its applications from TVs and mobile devices to AR/VR equipment, automotive displays, and lighting — and engaged in in-depth discussions on strategic cooperation for Korean companies to secure a leading position in the global market.

Seoul Semiconductor and Seoul Viosys will continue to play a central role within the Inorganic Emissive Display Sub-Committee and remain at the forefront of technological innovation and global competitiveness enhancement for Korea’s display industry.
