With its first in-house 3nm chip, XRING O1, grabbing world’s attention in May, Xiaomi seems ready to impress the market again. According to Wccftech, Xiaomi may have already started developing the XRING O2, with its trademark recently filed.
According to leakers cited by Wccftech, the XRING O2 trademark was spotted on China’s TianYanCha platform, alongside other trademarks like XRING T1 (featured in the Xiaomi Watch S4) and XRING 0.
Among them, the XRING O2 draws the most attention as the likely successor to XRING O1. As per Wccftech, the XRING O1 was reportedly built on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process (N3B), suggesting XRING O2 will use at least TSMC’s third-generation 3nm node (N3P) or possibly jump to advanced 2nm technology for better performance. However, the report also warns that U.S. restrictions on specialized EDA tools essential for chip design may prevent Xiaomi from using the 2nm process.
If that’s the case, Xiaomi may have to rely on TSMC’s N3E process instead—still advanced, but potentially leaving XRING O2 trailing behind Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 3 and Apple’s A20 series, which are expected to use TSMC’s 2nm node, the report suggests.
According to earlier leaks cited by EE Times China, the XRING O2 successfully completed tape-out as early as March. However, it has yet to resolve the issue of relying on an external baseband chip and is expected to continue using MediaTek’s solution—upgrading from the T800 to the newer T900, the report adds.
Details for Xiaomi’s AI-Powered Smart Glasses
On the other hand, according to IT Home, Xiaomi is going to release its first AI-powered smart glasses on June 26th. While not officially confirmed, leaks cited by the report suggest the device is positioned to rival Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses.
Another report from TechNave suggests that the product’s expected features include a dual-chip setup for enhanced performance, a built-in camera for real-world capture, and AI-powered recognition similar to Apple’s Vision Pro—capable of identifying objects, restaurants, prices, and ratings.
According to IT Home, the glasses are designed to blend futuristic style with everyday practicality, built using premium supply chains shared by Apple and Meta. They’ll also debut the industry’s first dual-chip setup featuring the Snapdragon XR1 and BES2700H, the report notes.
