[News] Lumileds LUXEON 7070 HE Delivers Extreme Performance for Outdoor Lighting Applications

Lumileds’ newest LUXEON 7070 HE delivers more than 1500 lumens and over 190 lm/W, simplifying the development of outdoor lighting applications that require very high light output levels, such as high-mast, high-bay, and flood lights. LUXEON 7070 HE is tested and specified at 8W and delivers 2500 lumens at its rated power of 15W.

LUXEON 7070 HE is now an even more impressive choice due to its very low thermal resistance of 0.42 °C/W. Thermal resistance is a key contributor to efficient heat dissipation, improved performance, extended lifetime, and design flexibility.

LUXEON 7070 HE utilizes Lumileds’ multi-die lead frame technology that has a long and successful track record in LEDs for outdoor and industrial applications, including: LUXEON 3030 2D, LUXEON 5050, and LUXEON 7070. This design is a proven high-power alternative to monolithic die ceramic base packages.

Careful engineering and rigorous testing ensure that when Lumileds introduces these new-to-the-category parts, they deliver more than the required robustness, as evidenced by, for example, results in Sulfur Dioxide testing – averaging less than 1.3% degradation and 0.0008 du’v’ chromaticity shift – and harsher than standard wet high temperature operating life (WHTOL) testing at 85°C and 85% relative humidity for 1,000 hours averaging less than 1.5% degradation and 0.0002 du’v’ chromaticity shift.

“More light, higher efficacy, reduced system costs, and longer, more reliable performance remain our customers’ most important needs, and with the new LUXEON 7070 HE, we deliver across the board,” said product manager Keen Oun Yap.

An array of standard optics is readily available, allowing OEMs to quickly realize substantial benefits and deliver more efficient and reliable solutions to their customers.

LUXEON 7070 HE is available in both 12V and 36V packages and is hot color targeted for 85°C for color accuracy and consistency. At 700mA, 4000K LUXEON 7070 HE delivers typical 1565lm and 191 lm/W.
