UK Towns to Spend Millions in LED Streetlight Upgrade

Two towns Tiverton and Crediton located in UK will be among the first locations in Devon County to receive LED streetlight upgrades, reported The Gazette.

The city council which received GBP 10.2 million (US $14.62 million) from Challenge Funding package will be replacing in total 24,000 streetlights and about 5,000 columns next month.

The lighting upgrade will the council cut energy consumption, carbon emissions, and help the county council save GBP 1 million per year in energy costs.

The streetlight upgrade will take two years to complete with Cullompton and 20 other two in the secondary phase of works.
