SemiLEDs’ Customers Confirm New I-core™ LED Achieves Over 120 lm/W

SemiLEDs Corporation, a world leading LED chip manufacturer, announces its new I-core™ LED has achieved over 120 lm/W in an optimized white light package by both, Nationstar Optoelectronics and SENGLED , leading LED packaging companies in Mainland China. These results demonstrate SemiLEDs commitment to developing its technology to provide superior performing products which continue to push the threshold of LED performance. Achieving over 120lm/W in mass production is a great step toward enabling LEDs to address a growing number of applications while saving energy and costs.

The tests performed by Nationstar Optoelectronics and SENGLED were performed at 350mA in a 1W package with SemiLEDs 45mil I-core™ LED chip, which is currently available in mass production along with the 40mil I-core™ LED. The tests confirmed that SemiLEDs new I-core™ LED is able to deliver over 120 lm/W, a significant achievement. With these results, both companies plan to ramp capacity for street light applications.

The impressive tests results for the I-core LED prove the real advantages which are delivered through SemiLEDs’ chip technology. SemiLEDs’ patented and proprietary MvpLED™ chip technology features a vertical structure with a copper alloy base for industry leading brightness, thermal management and reliability. The new I-core™ LED from SemiLEDs has not only made significant improvements in brightness, but great advances in reliability have also been achieved.

The I-core™ LED is available in SemiLEDs ultra high bright chip portfolio in blue (white), in both 40mil and 45mil chip sizes.
