Osram: Leditron is the future of dimming

Dimmable OSRAM compact fluorescent lamps create a pleasant ambience combined with extreme energy efficiency thanks to the new Leditron technology.

Different moods, activities and times of the day require different light levels. Digitally controlled and infinitely variable digitally dimmable lights, for example at the workplace, not only save energy, but also ensure the right ambience at any given time. With Dulux Intelligent Dim Lamps by OSRAM, replacing conventional incandescent lights with compact fluorescent lamps is simple and straightforward.

Working with dimmer manufacturers Insta, Berker, Gira and Jung, OSRAM is currently in the process of developing Leditron, the new industrial standard and the "future of dimming".

The new Dulux Intelligent Dim Lamps with Leditron technology are the right choice for
premium applications such as hotels or restaurants, offices or in the home. In modern
systems for the control and dimming of compact fluorescent lamps and LED lamps, they are immediately ready for use without addressing.

A new standard for the future of dimming
Even greater lighting comfort in combination with energy savings will be available in the very near future thanks to a new dimmer and control technology currently under joint development by OSRAM and dimmer manufacturers Berker, Gira, Jung and Insta. Under the motto "The future of dimming", the companies present the new Leditron standard at the Light + Building 2010 trade fair.

Up to now, only a few models of compact fluorescent lamps - or energy saving lamps – have been suitable for dimming. Occasional accompaniments such as flickering or uneven dimming will be made a thing of the past thanks to Leditron.
The basic principle of this new technology is to replace dimmers by control units and to send the control information via the mains to the lights connected to a particular circuit. In this way, not only the brightness of the lamps can be varied, but for suitable lights on LED basis, the idea is also to control the light colour simply and standard-compliant.

The manufacturers consider Leditron as an open industry standard with an invitation to all companies in this sector to work together in developing this new solution. The standardization of this new technology is currently under preparation. The first control units and lights are expected to be on the market towards the end of 2010.
