Luminus Acquired 50th Patent for ‘Big-Chip’ LEDs from USPTO

Recently, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded Luminus Devices’s 50th patent for ‘Big-Chip’ LEDs.

Luminus has aggressively filed intellectual property (IP) for protection of big chip LED devices, packages and systems.

Alexei Erchak, founder and CTO, Luminus was pleased to be granted patents covering big-chip LED technology, and he said that” the rapid allowance of our patents is a testament to the novelty of our approach in the solid-state lighting industry. We have more than 100 additional patents pending in the US and in other countries that further extend our coverage.”

It’s said that Luminus has also been granted 13 non-U.S. issued patents in China, Korea and Taiwan that extend big-chip LED protection into those countries.

Additionally, it has a track record of granting licenses to other LED companies, including: Forepi, Epistar and Nichia.
