IT Month is expected to bring LED-backlit TV and LED-backlit monitors’ share to increase

With the upcoming IT Month, it’s expected that LED-backlit TV's share in the Taiwan LCD TV market and LED-backlit monitors’ market share was to reach 20% in the end of 2010.

Industry insider noted first-tier vendors' price-cuts would focus on specific models and that was to edge out other products which also the Taiwan vendors worrying about. So Taiwan vendors cut price on other models.

It’s estimated that Taiwan LED-backlit TVs accounted for 8-10% in all over market share. At present, Taiwan vendors wanted to clear out their CCFL-backlit models, in order to launch more LED-backlit models in 2011. And they expected the first-tier vendors to mainly develop 3D models.

In 4Q10, local TV vendors estimated LED-backlit TV market share could reach close to 20% affected from seasonality, and in 2011 the overall market share of LED-backlit TVs would grow up to 25-30% with more promotions for LED-backlit models.

Meanwhile, Taiwan LED-backlit monitor market share in 2010 was expected to be around 10%, and to reach 18-20% in the second half of 2010 due to seasonality.
