Unity Opto estimated 2011 revenues to increase by 80% from 2010

With demand LED backlight applications on the rise, Taiwan LED chip packager Unity Opto Technology expected monthly revenues to hit NT$700 billion (US$23.39 million) in 1Q 11. And the Full-year revenues for 2011 were expected to raise 80% to NT$12 billion from 2010.

In December, the company’s revenues were estimated to reach about NT$560 million (US$18.72 million), and 4Q revenues and profit was projected to remain at third-quarter levels. In 2011, TV backlight applications would be expected to have a 30% share in Unity Opto's 2011 revenues, and overall LED backlight revenues would be around 60%, with LED lighting applications at 25%.

Unity Opto had entered the South Korean TV vendor’s supply chain, and in 2011 it would begin shipping to Japan's Sony and Sharp.

Meanwhile, Unity Opto had completed setting up an operation in Beijing, China and would construct production plants in 1Q11 and 4Q completion scheduled. Also, Its Yangshou plant had monthly capacity of 400 million units and it would increase to 700 million units in the 2011.

With orders coming from South Korean system vendors, Taiwan-based panel makers and white-box companies in China, Tablet PC was projected to represent 15% of the company's revenues from backlight applications,
