Philips Brings LED Technology to Hospitality Industry

Recently, Philips has announced the release of a new LED lamp dimming feature aimed at decreasing the hospitality industry’s carbon footprint and ensuring energy savings of more than 80%.

The company has utilized the DimTone technology to help facility managers in the hospitality industry reduce the amount of light when dimmed as well as the colour temperature. When dimmed, the light gets warmer, creating an intimate atmosphere and radiating a warm and soft light, similar to that produced by incandescent and halogen lamps.

Philips’ 7 W GU10 master LED lamp with DimTone has been developed to meet the need to provide a solution for spaces with high daily light burning hours, while also retaining an inviting and intimate atmosphere for guests.

The 7 W GU10 master LED lamp with DimTone has a significantly longer life span of 40 000 hours, compared with a halogen lamp’s 2 000-hour life span, therefore reducing the need to replace spot lights and subsequently lowering maintenance costs.

Philips’ 7 W master GU10 LED lamp with DimTone has already made a breakthrough in the Spar Hotel in Gothenburg, Sweden. By replacing one hundred and thirty 50 W halogen GU10 lamps in the breakfast area of the hotel, the cost of lighting this area has been reduced by 82% with a payback of one-and-a-half years based on 12 burning hours a day.
