Green for Growth
One of the leading market trends is for products which not only satisfy environmental regulations but which give consumers the opportunity to do their bit to be green, even if this comes at a slightly higher cost. The latest European Commission survey on Europeans’ attitudes towards the environment shows that an overwhelming majority of European consumers (95 per cent) consider protecting the environment important to them personally, while 72 per cent of the respondents are ready to pay a premium for environmentally friendly products.

This growing demand is driving great innovations, and many of these products are gathered in the fair’s LED & Green Lighting Zone. This is now one of the largest and most exciting sections of the fair and last year it featured more than 800 exhibitors. The zone caters for all kinds of LED and environmentally-friendly lighting products including commercial lighting, residential lighting, advertising lighting, and lighting for retail and architectural use, both indoor and outdoor.

Sparkling Styles
Lighting continues to develop as an integral part of the building design world, with the fair attracting architects and designers to check out the latest lighting ideas for creating the right mood and feel. Hall of Aurora is the fair’s lighting brand zone, specially dedicated to the brightest and best styles on offer in the world of premium lighting. In 2012, more than 300 exhibitors took part in this zone.

There are plenty of other specialist zones helping exhibitors offering products and services in particular segments to link up with buyers. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council is proud to be the organiser of the Hong Kong International Lighting Products Award 2013, which is held just before the fair. Winning entries will be on display throughout the fair period, showcasing innovative products from our exhibitors.
