High Power Lighting Sues Lustrous for Alleged Trade Secret Violation

Taiwanese LED packager High Power Lighting Corp. has alleged fellow Taiwanese LED packager Lustrous for violating trade secrets laws. Lustrous announced on Oct. 25, 2013 that the Taiwan Taipei District Court plans to schedule the preliminary hearing for the case on Nov. 14, 2013. Lustrous has hired lawyers to defend them at court.

High Power Lighting Corp. filed a trade secret violation criminal case against Lustrous and the company Chairman Dawson Liu to the Taipei District Court on Oct. 4, 2013, said Liu. The case was filed under private persecution case. The court plans to schedule the preliminary hearing on Nov. 14, 2013. Lustrous has commissioned lawyers to review the case and defend the company at court to clarify details of the case. The company has not revealed further details about the legal case, and Liu did not make any further explanations.

Lustrous specializes in high voltage COB components that are applied in commercial lighting, industrial lighting, landscape lighting and other lighting fields. The company’s consolidated revenue from Jan.-Sept. 2013 soared 43.32% to NT$ 136 million (US$ 4.63 million) compared to the same period last year, due to rising LED lighting demands in 2013.

High Power Lighting is also a high-power LED packager and ODM. Its main products include ultraviolet (UV) LED, infrared (IR) LED, plant lighting LED and other special lighting. According to data compiled, High Power Lighting was established in June 2005, and Quanta Computer is one of its shareholders.
