Seoul Semiconductor Optimistic HV LED to Drive up Demand in Acrich Products

Seoul Semiconductor participated in Lighting Japan 2014 Exhibition which was held in Tokyo International Exhibition Center from January 15th to 17th. With LED lighting applications gradually maturing and limited space for LED dropping prices, HV LED products with advantages in simplified electric current module design are increasing in popularity. Seoul Semiconductor displayed their new Acrich series of products during this year’s Lighting Japan exhibition.

Seoul Semiconductor attended this year's Lighting Japan Exhibition on January 15th to 17th, showing off their Acrich series, 5630 package LED components, high power packaged LEDs, and nPola series.

'Seoul Semiconductor's LED wave is coming to Japan' is the concept at this year’s exhibition. As well as mid-power and high-power LED products, the company also displayed down lights, lighting module for replacing conventional lighting, and unique products such as Acrich MJT which applied MJT(Multi Junction Technology). Seoul Semiconductor revealed that customization demands for these high conformity products are anticipated to drive up growth in 2014 to four times that of 2013.

Acrich MJT allows operation at high voltage levels using only one LED chip rather than multiple chips of which cells connected by multi-junction technology. (LEDinside/Seoul Semiconductor)

Seoul Semiconductor exhibited their Acrich series, 5630 package LED components, high power packaged LEDs, and nPola series.

5630 Packaged LED
5630 packaged LEDs is one of the company’s best selling items. It reaches 180lm/W and has good cost efficiency (lm/$). 3030 packaged LEDs is the representative item for mid-powered LEDs. It enhances heat resistance in LED chip and package and can be used in high power applications.

High Power packaged LEDs
Z5M1 and COB series enables the best possible color over angle homogeneity with the new phosphor coating technology and they can be derived in high voltage which makes it possible to be used in various products.

Acrich Series

Acrich from Seoul Semiconductor is the world’s first LEDs that can be directly plugged into the wall without converter. Because of that, long life time and design convenience are secured. There will be display Acrich MJT Packaged which can be driven in high voltage, Acrich 2 module with Acrich IC, and Lighting applications which applied Acrich series product.

nPola.
The brightness of nPola has been dramatically improved by 5~10 times over the conventional LED based on equivalent die surface area. nPola enables to decrease Defect density.

Seoul Semiconductor Acrich series products had a rapid rise in demand in 2013, growing three times that of 2012. The company anticipates that the series will continue growing in 2014 with demands reaching four times that of 2013.
