Lextar Utilization Rate to Rebound in March

Taiwanese manufacturer Lextar benefited from  backlight client Chinese Lunar New Year preorders in January, with consolidated revenue of NT $1.22 billion (US $40.3 million), monthly growth of 11 percent. February however only has a utilization rate of around 70 percent due to preorders and fewer working days. Utilization rates are  anticipated to rebound in March, driven by the upcoming peak season for backlight and lighting. Order visibility will remain at one month.

Clients began preordering backlight products used in notebook computers and monitors in January, said Lextar. TV backlight products also received orders. Before the Lunar New Year, clients mainly placed orders for older models. Backlight demands are anticipated to increase after March during the peak season. Lighting products will continue to be shipped to Europe and Japan, which includes the company’s high powered tube light developed last year which has received a lot of attention from Japanese clients. The company’s lighting modules are also fairing well in the European market, with increased shipments to the largest package manufacturer in Turkey.
