Samsung Integrates Flip-Chip Tech into Flash LEDs

As flip-chip technology becomes more mature, there has been a clear increase in flip-chip applications this year. Those within the industry have been actively applying flip-chips into flash LEDs. Samsung has taken advantage of the expanded range of flash LED products and announced the launch of their new flash 2016 LED  with flip-chip technology this month.

Flash LEDs have the features of high stability, small beam angles, and low drive voltage. Flip-chips conversely have  large beam angle, small package size, and high luminosity making them suitable applications for products with size restrictions and high-voltage flash LED products.

Previously, Samsung mainly used flash LED products 4039 and 4139 package specs for the company’s mobile phone applications. The company, however, launched their new flash LED 2016 specs in 2014 following riseing demands caused bylarge manufacturers’ introduction of  dual flash LEDs into mobile phones. Interestingly, Samsung’s 2016 package specs employ flip-chip technology.

The new flip-chip integrated flash LED 2016 specs use the company’s in-house cell-film phosphor technology, according to Samsung. Each package is applied with a thin film of phosphor, which provides 220lm of light output and improves color deviation by 40 percent compared to previous flash LED specs.
