Package free products have been making waves in the
LED industry since 2013. LED manufacturers have been investing in R&D for package free and CSP (chip-scale package) products, including Samsung who recently announced the release of a new CSP product. The company is launching their completely new 1.3mm x 1.3mm flash LED which uses CSP technology, called FC1313. The CSP FC1313 is small in size, has more design flexibility, and low power consumption. It has become known as the world’s smallest flash LED product.
Samsung revealed their newest flash LED product line during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) this week. Among their product line is the much anticipated FC1313 with CSP technology for application in flash capable products. The FC1313 takes advantage of CSP special features which allows it to be smaller in size at only 1.3mmx1.3mmx0.25t, according to information by Samsung. The product has a more flexible design space for conforming to optic lens and later use in smartphone application.
CSP FC1313 heat resistance far exceeds traditional LED products. It is low in power consumption and able to reach 140lm performance through the use of a 500mA driver. Small size and thin advantages from CSP technology help the FC1313 move towards modularize design and Samsung plans to use it to replace xenon electronic flash lamps.
The composition of the FC1313 component includes flip-chip technology. The company uses TiO2 coating as an extra protection layer for the chips and phosphor application is done through phosphor film, according to information provided by the company.
Aside from CSP FC1313 products, Samsung’s product line also include previously launched 4039 and 4139 specs. The company has also entered the industry’s flash LED standard spec 2016 product line and launched their newest 3432 LED which will be used in Galaxy S5.
