Konica Minolta OLED Luminous Efficacy Reaches 131 lm/W

Konica Minolta announced on its Japanese website recently the launch of the world’s most efficient OLED with a luminous efficacy of 131 lm/W, up from previous OLED panels luminous efficacy of 103 lm/W.

According to the company the 15x15 cm OLED panel was able to achieve better luminous efficacy with the use of new in-house developed blue phosphor. In addition, the company developed light extractive technology enabling light to be extracted from organic layers to increase quantum efficiency.

The company commented the new breakthrough would broaden OLED applications. According to a report by OLED info, the company also said this development would make OLED more efficient then LED. The same report also noted NEC Lighting is the current record holder for world’s most efficient OLED device with its 156 lm/W 2x2 mm panel that was jointly developed with Yamagata University in March 2013.
