Lextar Electronics set another new revenue record last month, after three consecutive months of growth drove up revenue by 14.7 percent YoY to NT $1.42 billion (US $50 million), according to a UDN report. On a monthly basis, the company’s growth in August was only up 0.3 percent compared to July 2014.
The lighting sector showed stronger performance than backlight in August 2014, said Lextar. Shipments of new glass tube LED lights and panel lights to top international lighting clients contributed to the higher growth rates. In backlight applications, direct-type LED TV maintained high demands. Despite support from notebooks, PC monitors and other IT applications, backlight performance remained flat.
Lextar is rapidly introducing new products and clients. The company’s electronic ballast compatible ET8 LED tube lights have hit store shelves in the U.S. As for backlight applications, the company has successfully developed wide color gamut, and high luminous efficacy products for high-end applications. The company is actively promoting new backlight product models in 2015 to attract Chinese and international clients.
On the same day, Unity Opto also announced revenues set a new monthly record of exceeding NT $900 million in August 2014. Current order visibility has extended into 4Q14, with high revenues to continue into September 2014.
Unity Opto’s consolidated revenue in August 2014 was up 59 percent YoY to reach NT $910 million, or a 14 percent increase on-month.
New bulb orders monthly shipment volume surpassed total shipment volumes in 2Q14, said Unity Opto Spokesperson Jacky Wen. Order visibility has been extended to 4Q, with lighting shipment continually focused on revenues. The company’s lighting products amounted to more than 30 percent of shipments.
