Everlight Enters Big Chinese Smartphone Manufacturers Backlight Supply Chains

Everlight has successfully entered top Chinese smartphone manufacturers supply chain including Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo, according to an EDN report. The company has become a major backlight supplier for Android smartphone manufactures. The company’s revenue in September 2014 is expected to reach new record heights.

“Everlight’s profits for third quarter are expected to be very good, and fourth quarter will not be a slack season for the company either,” said the company Chairman Robert Yeh.

Responding to his outlook for the LED industry in 2015, Yeh was upbeat that the LED industry performance would be better than this year. He listed LED lighting’s increasing market penetration rates, larger TV sizes, in addition display applications and popularity of indoor displays are all factors expected to spur on the industry. Everlight’s profits are expected to improve in 2015.

Yeh has confirmed for the first time, aside from Samsung and Apple, Everlight has entered most smartphone manufacturers backlight supply chains including China’s popular Xiaomi and Huawei smartphone manufacturers.

He emphasized Everlight was once Apple’s iPod and iPad subcontractor, and continues to strives towards the goal of entering iPhone supply chain.

Everlight’s revenue has been pretty good, since the LED lighting peak season will extend till the end of 2014, said Yeh. The company’s revenue will be better in September than in August this year. The company has already set record highs in for two consecutive months, and is expected to break the record again in September.

Responding to Everlight’s stellar performance despite of declining TV backlight demands, the company’s LED component shipments have set new historical heights as lighting industry enters peak season at the end of the year in Taiwan and oversea markets, and the company continues to offer a broad range of products, said Yeh.

Addition of new production capacity to keep 4Q14 from slacking

Everlight will be developing smartphone and automotive lighting markets in the future, and smartphone backlight currently consists 10 percent of company revenue, said Yeh. Everlight has become a major backlight supplier for Android camp smartphones, aside for Samsung, and the company’s revenue from the sector will “definitely increase” with the addition of two major Chinese clients.

Everlight is also active in the automotive lighting sector, the company’s revenue from the sector has reached 5 percent this year. Everlight has invested in HAITEC, an automotive design company invested by Taiwanese car maker Yulon Motors. Everlight has a partnership with HAITEC in several businesses, and projects growth in automotive LED lighting component shipments.

The company also said losses in second quarter from investments in solar panel maker Taiwan Polysilicon Group will not affect finances in third quarter. The LED manufacturer has sold all its shares in Taiwan Polysilicon Group in second quarter.
