Advantek Expands LED Packaging with Acquisition of Tempo Electronics Surftape® Product Line

Advantek announced they have acquired all the assets of Tempo Electronics and the Surftape® product line. Effective immediately Advantek will be offering Surftape® through its extensive global sales organization.

Surftape® is a unique continuous carrier tape specifically made for safely transporting semiconductors, LEDs, MEMS, and other electronic components from the manufacturer to the circuit board builder. Surftape® offers unique benefits to the customer including no up-front tooling charges, no cover tape needed, precise component placement and secure retention, and the ability to test parts immediately before shipping.  These attributes make Surftape the ideal solution for many of the new advance ultra thin LED packages, such as Flip-Chip, Chip Scale packages, bare die, and package free LEDs.

“Advantek is very excited to have Tempo join our global organization,” said Michael Miller, Advantek Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Surftape® has always been a great solution for safely shipping semiconductor components and now it has the global reach and technical backing of Advantek. We believe Surftape® has the ability to benefit the market in a number of ways over more traditional methods of trays, tubes and even carrier tape. With parts continually shrinking, tolerances getting tighter, and more semiconductors shipping as bare die, Surftape® offers a simple and economical solution.”

Effective immediately Surftape® will be sold via the global direct Advantek sales force. However, all orders, acknowledgements, shipping, and invoicing will continue to be processed through the existing Tempo organization.
