India Andhra Pradesh state government implements DSM (Demand Side Management) based efficient lighting program (DELP) for domestic households in hope to save energy to the tune of 500 MW daily, according to a Business Standard report.
So far, state governments have distributed 820,000 LED bulbs in Guntur district for Phase-I of DELP. It will soon be extended to the entire state, said State Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
"As a first step, we have taken up replacement of inefficient sodium vapor street lights with energy efficient LED lighting system, which has been recognized at the national-level. The Center has also appreciated the energy efficiency policies of the AP government and it is estimated that implementation of the DELP program alone will save around 500 Mw (or 12 million units per day)," he said.
The state government released posters to promote the energy conservation effect of LEDs on National Energy Conservation (NEC) Day on December 14. The posters also highlighted government’s effort to provide market value Rs 400 LED (US $6.38) bulb at Rs 10 under DELP.
