LG Display Showcases OLED Display Technology at CES 2015

LG Display, the world’s leading innovator of display technologies, will showcase the latest advances in the industry, including its global leadership in OLED technology, during CES 2015 in Las Vegas from January 6 to 9.

LG Display will introduce its cutting-edge technologies and products under the theme of “Leading Technology, Great Design & Picture Quality, and Differentiation” in its private showroom at the Bellagio Hotel. With the slogan ‘LGD Always with You,’ the company will emphasize its dedication to offering the best technology and products to customers.

To highlight its commitment to the superior qualities of OLED, LG Display will have a separate OLED zone within the showroom and demonstrate the benefits and the advantages of the technology to customers.  The company’s exclusive WRGB-based OLED panel technology boasts unsurpassed picture quality, achieving perfect black levels.  The technology is optimized for curved designs since it prevents light leakage as it does not use backlight units and liquid crystals found in LCD panels.

“We have been offering customers successful solutions based on differentiated technology and we will continue our efforts in providing win-win solutions for customers in 2015,” said Sang-Beom Han, CEO of LG Display.  “LG Display will further strengthen partnerships with customers to make 2015 the breakout year for OLED TVs.”

LG Display will introduce 55-inch Ultra HD curved OLED panel for TVs at the CES for the first time, as well as various sizes of Ultra HD OLED displays including 65-inch curved and 77-inch variable panels.

During CES, LG Display will also introduce new Ultra HD LCD displays for TVs employing fresh designs and improved picture quality based on IPS technology to provide differentiated value to customers, maintaining its leadership in the Ultra HD market.  It will showcase its ultra-light and thin Art Slim series of 55- and 65-inch Ultra HD TV panels for TVs and 23- and 23.8-inch Full HD panels for monitors, while introducing a 65-inch Ultra HD panel with Wide Color Gamut (WCG) and a 98-inch Quad Ultra HD panel with 7,680 x 4,320 resolutions that is four times sharper than Ultra HD.

In showing its commitment to leading the global mobile and IT display market with differentiated technology, LG Display will introduce its Advanced In-cell Touch (AIT) technology for larger IT devices besides smartphones and tablets, including a 15.6-inch notebook panel.  AIT offers excellent touch functions as well as improved design formats with an ultra slim bezel.

LG Display will showcase the expanded application of M+ technology, which is already used in TVs to achieve high brightness but low power consumption without compromising picture quality, to an extended range of products, including mobile devices and notebooks, as well as automotive and commercial displays.  The company is committed to strengthening its leadership by offering premium value in LCD products while taking the lead in next-generation display markets.

Finally, LG Display will showcase differentiated technology that will lead the future display market, including curved Plastic OLED displays for wearable devices and automotive displays, as well as a 55-inch transparent Full HD LCD display with 17% transparency, higher than the previous 10%.

LG Display’s private showroom at CES 2015 will be open to select customers at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
