Chinese LED luminaire manufacturer Opple Lighting has been expanding its presence in India’s retail market with customized ‘Made for India’ LED products in South India, according to a report by Indian media BusinessLine.
Opple has business operations in 50 countries, and entered India with customized products that take into consideration local voltage fluctuation and surge protection requirements. The company has launched 200 products on the India market, and its future business strategies include offering a one-stop solution for large enterprises and business houses.
“The company has begun to introduce its products across Southern States, Maharashtraand NCR,” said Naveen Saxena, Country Head, Opple Lighting India.
India’s lighting industry which is estimated to value INR 150 billion (US $2.42 billion) is growing at double digit rates. LED lighting products are expected to pick up pace as prices are further lowered by at least 10% this year, he explained. Part of Opple’s current strategy in India has been setting up brand stores, and establishing distribution network comprised of retailers and dealers.
“We have opened two large-format brand stores in Hyderabad and plan to take this up to 30, and 100 shop-in-shop stores by the year end,” he said. Opple has a large manufacturing unit in Shanghai, China which acts as the manufacturing powerhouse for making products for various countries. “There is no immediate plan for any manufacturing in India,” he added.
