Indian City Noida Plans to Upgrade LED Streetlights

The Noida Authority in the National Capital Region plans to upgrade streetlights with energy efficient LED bulbs to cut down electricity and maintenance costs, reported The Times of India.

City officials said they would invite request for proposal (RFP) for the project next week.

The city aims to save maintenance costs and halve the city’s energy consumption.

The streetlight project will be carried out in phases, and the city will be replacing about 2,500 streetlights out of the total 10,000 streetlights, said Hom Singh Yadav, chief maintenance engineer (water), Noida Authority.

The road between the Noida entry gate and Noida-Greater Noida expressway might be the first to undergo replacements, but authorities have not decided the particular area yet.
