The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) responded to IES TM-30-15 with NEMA LSCR-PP 1-2015 Light Source Color Rendition. The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) recently published TM-30-15 IES Method for Evaluating Light Source Color Rendition. NEMA has produced a position paper, Light Source Color Rendition, in response to this document.
Mark Lien, chair of NEMA Light Source Section and director of Government and Industry Relations at Osram Sylvania, Inc., said, “NEMA member companies are evaluating TM-30. Any new color metrics will impact our customers and the products we can offer. The International Commission on Illumination supports the study of TM-30. The IES issued this standard hoping to enable the international lighting community to carefully evaluate it. Our position paper addresses aspects of color quality and recommends a thorough vetting process. It also cautions about the inclusion of fidelity metrics in regulations that would limit customer options.”
