Chinese Mobile Maker TECHNO to Light up Nigeria Communities with Solar LED Streetlights

Chinese mobile phone manufacturer TECHNO has launched a project called “Light up Ikeja” in Nigeria, and donated solar-powered streetlights to the local community in the West African state.

Chidi Okonkwo, the managing director of TECHNO, spoke about the motive behind the project.

As a friendly gesture to local Nigerian consumers, the company started to donate 88 solar- powered LED streetlights.

The project covered three communities, including Ogunbiyi, Anifowose and Anibiyi. The installed solar LED streetlights have 24-month warranty and batteries backup, provided by the LED lighting subsidiary of TECHNO.

Originally, the lights in Ikeja are lit throughout the period from 7 pm to 6 am, with the newly installed streetlights, the communities are considering to further extend the operation time.

The company will continue the donation of solar- powered LED streetlights to significantly change the living quality of its consumers.
