Two startups ComfyLight and BeOn, which are developers of smart LED lights targeting the home security market announced success in acquiring additional financing backing this week.
Swiss startup ComfyLight announced it reached its Kickstarter funding campaign goal in less than seven hours for its smart light that protects homes from intruders. The campaign at www.comfylight.com/kickstarter began on January 22nd, 2016, and has nearly doubled its goal already. With three weeks left in the campaign, ComfyLight continues to recruit early backers, to further finance the development of an API.
The Kickstarter campaign aimed to raise US $50,000 from backers to put ComfyLight into production. After flying past that goal, the company is working towards its first stretch goal. If ComfyLight raises US $150,000 it will provide a stable and well-documented API to enable integration with other devices, like smart doorbells or, for instance, Philips Hue. This will trigger the development of additional applications and further enhance the existing functionality.

“We are thrilled and honored by the support for the ComfyLight,” said Stefanie Tuber, CEO and Cofounder of ComfyLight. “We knew there would be supporters for this innovative product that conveniently protects people’s homes, but we were proud that we could reach our goal in only a few hours. We can’t wait to start reaching for those stretch goals to add more useful features.” (GEHEN) For details about the bulb’s functions please see our previous article here.
Another smart lighting provider BeON Home has announced it secured US $2.9 million in additional capital. The round was led by Jopeko and included continued participation from existing investors and multiple new investors. The investment will accelerate BeON's growth and expand its product line. This funding brings BeON's total investment to date to nearly US$ 5 million.

"All too often, smart-home technology ignores one of two basic premises: practical functionality or a simple user experience. When a product addresses both concepts it is free from early adopter limitations and has the potential to change paradigms. The BeON Home Protection system is one of the only smart-home products we've seen that does this, and as a result it addresses a mass-market need. They've hidden two of the most requested features for any smart home – security and safety – inside an energy efficient LED bulb that anyone can use and understand. We're excited about future products from BeON that apply that same simple design philosophy," said Joseph Kolchinsky, managing director of Jopeko LLC.
BeON Home expands the US $ 13 billion home security market by bringing new layers of home protection to the industry. The company's first product, the BeON Home Protection system, includes everyday safety lighting, emergency lighting during power outages or smoke alarms and preventative home security that makes it look like you're home, even when you're not. The BeON home protection system is made up of BeON smart modules that fit inside corresponding LED light bulbs. The BeON bulbs provide 22 years of efficient lighting and energy savings that pay for the system over time; and because the smart technology is in the replaceable module, the bulb itself never needs to be replaced.
BeON recently announced expanded availability and compatibility with international shipping, an Android mobile app, and retail presence on Amazon. Additional platform integrations and product developments are on BeON's roadmap for 2016 to enhance preventative security and safety functionality even further.
