Seoul Viosys Files UV Patent Infringement Lawsuit against American Manufacturer Salon Supply Store

  • Seoul Viosys filed a patent infringement lawsuit with the US Court in Florida, claiming that their UV products, including EPI, FAB, package or system, have been infringed.

Seoul Viosys, which is the world class UV LED solution company and also is an associate company of Seoul Semiconductor (a LED manufacturer, www.seoulsemicon.com), disclosed on Mar. 22 that they filed a lawsuit with the Federal Court of State of Florida, U.S, against Salon Supply Store, (http://salonsupplystore.com), which is the manufacturer of the UV-applied products, last week on the ground that Salon Supply Store has infringed their patents.

The patents of UV LED, which Seoul Viosys claims to have been infringed by Salon Supply Store (hereinafter referred to as “Salon”), consist of a wide-range of patents that are related to the UV LED manufacturing processes and applied fields, such as EPI that generates ultraviolet, FAB technology, and packaging technology of the components, as well as the curing (hardening) technology. Salon is known to have acquired a lot of profits by selling the products related to the infringement through the large online shops, such as Amazon or eBay.

Against the infringement, Seoul Viosys filed a letter of complaint for injunctive relief with the Federal Court of Florida, USA, asking for the stop of the sale and distribution of the related products and the verification of patent infringements by Salon. Seoul Viosys has constructed the wide range of patent portfolio, ranging from the US LED components to the application system. They plan to actively exercise their patent rights from now on against the infringing companies to protect the companies using their patented products.

Yeojin Yoon, vice president at UV Development Center of Seoul Viosys, said, “This lawsuit is just the beginning of a series of strong lawsuits against the infringing companies of our UV patents and we are preparing that there are more manufacturers in the similar industry or UV product manufacturers infringing our patents. We will continue to take legal actions against the infringements committed by these infringing companies.” Yoon added, “Seoul Viosys has developed the violeds technology for more than 15 years not just to gain profits but also to provide health keeping and clean environment for humanity. With the mass production at low cost, we will supply the violeds technology and its products to people around the world and, through this, will try to make better life of mankind.”
