EU Recalls Smart Lighting Product and LED Flood Light Manufactured in China

France and UK recently sent recall notifications to the EU The Rapid Alert System for Non-food Dangerous Products (RAPEX) for LED luminaire products made in China, due to electric shock risks.

Chinese LED manufacturer Rainbow Walker’s LED Mini Party Light, smart LED bulb was pulled off UK store shelves over serious electric shock concerns.

The metal nut at the top of the lamp could become live due to flashover, and the lamp could easily come apart giving access to internal live parts. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and relevant European standard EN 62560.

Preventive measures taken has resulted in the importer destroying the products. Further details of the dangerous smart LED bulb can be found under Alert number A12/0265/16.

Chinese manufacturer Rainbow Walker’s LED Mini Party Light

France also sent a recall notification for LED floodlight from an unknown brand in China over serious electric shock risks, the alert number of the recalled product is A12/0187/16.

France has called for the recall of an unknown Chinese manufacturers LED floodlights.

The earth wire was not held in place properly, and could be unearthed if detached. Water could seep into the casing, and does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.

The product has since been withdrawn from the market.
