Goa Capital Plans Upgrade to LED Streetlights

About 167,000 streetlights in Porvorim, the capital of Goa state in India, will be replaced with LED bulbs in seven months, said the Power Minister Milind Naik at a State Legislative Assembly recently, reported Herald.

The replacement of traditional streetlights with LEDs in Goa, the tender process and execution will all be implemented by Aug. 20, 2016.

The tender was awarded to EESL for an estimated cost INR 900 million, and the maintenance of the LED fixtures will also be carried out by EESL, he added.

The minister said wherever there was streetlight demands, where the lights need to be replaced with LEDs, the damaged electricity poles could be repaired or installed with new ones.
