MLS board recently nominated Guoqing Tang, a seasoned professional in China’s
LED industry, as one of the company’s independent director.
At the board meeting, the board also nominated Hong Zhang and Guorao Chen as other potential independent directors.New chairman candidates were also chosen by the board, and those named included current MLS Chairman Qinghuan Sun, Nianzu Guo, and the company chief financial officer Yanan Yi.
Tang is a veteran in the LED industry, he currently is one of the Executive Council Members of prestigious China Illuminating Engineering Society (CIES).
Moreover, he has held numerous senior management roles in top LED companies in the industry, he was Samsung Electronics China Senior Vice President from February 2013 to February 2016. He was also Cree’s General Manager of Business Development for 7 years from February 2006 to February 2013.
Earlier in his career was Shanghai Dachen Photoelectric Technology GM from November 1999 to February 2006.
Before joining the optoelectronic and LED industry, Tang worked in the technology and semiconductor industry for 9 years, and even oversaw NEC’s large scale IC production project, while he was employed as a project manager by Shanghai Jinqiao Export Processing Zone Development Company Limited.
Tang acquired his MBA degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Chinese University of Hong Kong in August 1991. He completed undergrad studies at Shanghai Normal University back in July 1986.
MLS has suspended trade on the Chinese bourse as of July 15, 2016, shortly after the LED packager, who was a member of Chinese investment consortium led by strategic investor IDG acquired Osram’s general lighting business LEDVANCE.
As MLS undergoes a major restructures, the company does not expect to resume trade till Oct. 15, 2016.
