New Samsung Patents Discloses Groundbreaking Smartwatch Designs

The recent leak of Samsung’s new smartwatch-related patents including a full-length display smartwatch and a hangable smartwatch will definitely catch gadget lovers’ attention, reported AndroidHeadlines. The patents show more than two types of smartwatches with groundbreaking functions that have not been realized on the market before. Instead of remaking the crown of the watch, through those patents released, Samsung takes it up a notch and presents its creativity redeveloping the already existing concepts and designs.

The first patent shows a smartwatch with two moveable straps enabling users to control the device. For instance, users are able to switch UI modes when moving the device toward the secondary strap. Users can interact with the device by moving the primary strap to different angles with light or heavy touches. Different commands are also given to the device when moving the watch face away from the secondary strap to the other direction. Another patents showcases that the smartwatch could work the same being placed elsewhere off the users wrist. By this design, Samsung introduces the concept of IoT into the device, allowing it to function differently depending on its location, its surroundings, and the commands it receives.

Another patent refines an earlier smartwatch design version Samsung developed in the shape of a slap bracelet, featuring a flexible OLED display and a unique clasp. This time, Samsung was granted the patent for the whole design. Unlike regular watches with clasps, the serpentine Samsung’s watch stays more securely on users wrists and functions similarly as a smartphone when partly straightened. In comparison to normal smartwatches, this brilliant design expands surface area for device content display and brings brand new user experience for portable devices.
