Taiwanese IC driver manufacturer Macroblock recently announced its collaboration with Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to develop ultra-small pitch
LED (Micro LED) digital display module. The company's board of directors has approved the decision.
Macroblock said the collaboration is driven by market trend and to ensure that the company can compete in the emerging Micro LED market.
LEDinside has learned that the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan also pays great attention to this collaborative plan. Local Micro LED business alliance, which consists of representatives from the government, academia and industry, are closely following this project as well.

Not long ago, at the ISE 2017 in Amsterdam, Macroblock already demonstrated the latest Hawkeye Solution products that cater to diversified applications of small pitch LED displays. From solutions to common small pitch display problems, rental use, to 24/7 operation applications (for control rooms or retail outlets), Macroblock exhibited products that are “simple, smart and superior.”
Macroblock’s solutions are aimed at enhancing display performance. With its innovative and user-friendly brightness adjustment module, users can easily adjust brightness without sacrificing grayscale and white balance. In addition, its intelligent power saving solutions can reduce at least 20% unnecessary power consumption.
At ISE 2017, Macroblock also launched a 48-channel LED display driver IC, MBI5353. It simplifies the routing on PCB layout, making it more applicable to small pitch LED displays.
