Fine Pitch and Mini LED Displays Become Focus of Chinese LED and Panel Manufacturers

The worldwide LED industry had suffered from low price due to oversupply in 2018. China, as one of the major LED chip producers and exporters, has continued to expand LED chip capacity despite declining price and the lukewarm market. However, the accelerating development of Mini LED and fine-pitch displays in the China market might be a way out for the industry in 2019.

According to LEDinside, Mini LED is making its way into displays of consumer electronics in 2019 and 2020. It is estimated that the market value of Mini LED will reach US$ 1.699 billion in 2022. Meanwhile, the revenue of LED adopted fine-pitch display is also growing with the increasing demands for LED displays form the rental market, retail industry and conference rooms.

To keep up with the market trend, Chinese LED manufacturers are also pushing their technology development in Mini LED and fine-pitch displays. Unilumin showcased mass producible 4K Mini LED displays with a pitch size of 0.9 mm and HDR technology. Leyard is able to produce SMD LED display with pitch size of 0.7 mm and working on COB Mini LED displays.

At the 2019 International Signs and LED Exhibition (ISLE 2019), Mini LED display products were highlights of the show. NationStar demonstrated Mini LED RGB displays as well as Mini LED backlight solution for large sized TVs. Kinglight presented 4-in-1 Mini LED package and modular products. MLS also exhibited 4-in-1 and 6-in-1 Mini LED products with a pitch size of P0.9.
