This year at Light + Building there are 2,640 registered exhibitors. Messe Frankfurt noted that these exhibitors are preparing to take part in the event. Based on the information and advises provided by the World Health Organization and other public health authorities, the risk of getting infected by the coronavirus is very low.

The organizer addressed that it will take a preventive measure to counteract the spread of infectious diseases. Additional cleaning measures for areas such as entrances, door handles and escalator handrails will be deployed. Moreover, disinfectant dispensers will be set-up throughout the Exhibition Centre.

President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt, Wolfgang Marzin, said, “According to all experts, the likelihood of becoming infected with the coronavirus is minimal. To repeat: the authorities have not issued any warnings. Light + Building will be held as planned.”

Light + Building is the top international industry event in the lighting industry and attracted more than 220,000 visitors in 2018. The majority of the participants (67% in 2018) come from Europe. However, Chinese visitors and exhibitors also play critical roles at the event. Due to travel restriction deployed by the authorities in China and other countries, Messe Frankfurt indicated that flights connecting China and European countries are very limited at the moment. As a result, numbers of the participants cannot be predicted at this stage.
