HKC Unveils Its First Flagship Mini LED Monitor Priced at 9,999 Yuan

At 3pm on September 1, HKC held the 2021 Mini LED product launch event, where the company launched its own 27″ Mini LED-backlit monitor—HKC PG27P5U.

The Mini LED monitor has four display technological highlights, namely the Mini LED + local dimming technology, UHD 4K resolution with a 144Hz refresh rate, 100% Adobe RGB gamut coverage and Display HDR1000 certification. The monitor can meet the needs of various scenarios including Esports, video watching and editing, and computer graphics.

The Mini LED-backlit monitor features 2,048 LEDs, 512 dimming zones, 600 nits of brightness, and a contrast ratio of 200000:1.

As HKC specified, the self-developed Mini LED monitor is priced at 9,999 yuan ($1,564) and will simultaneously be available in Tokyo on September 1.

As a leading panel manufacturer in China, HKC—in addition to its headquarter in Shenzhen—has seven whole-machine, material and component production bases (four of which are advanced-generation panel plants) in Chongqing, Chuzhou, Mianyang, Changsha, Hefei, Beihai and Yichang. The panel giant has four essential panel subsidiaries, namely Jinyu Optoelectronics, Chuzhou Optoelectronics, Mianyang Optoelectronics and Changsha Optoelectronics.

Currently, HKC has achieved batch production of Mini LED-backlit products. The expanded production lines of Mini LED displays for video walls and backlights in Yichang HKC were launched in this March, after which the products have been approved by HKC’s clients including Foxconn, Huizhou TCL Coretronics, Lextar, Konka, AOT, TCL, TPV, Huawei and Samsung.

Based on the said foundations, Yichang HKC increases relevant investments. The company plans to construct one of the top three production bases of display light sources in China and establish new production lines of Mini LED direct-view light sources and supports.

HKC is striving to develop technologies of 8K resolution, HDR Mini LED backlights, 240Hz+ refresh rates and high gamut. Specifically, HKC has four major strategies, which are as follows:

1. Producing more Mini LED products such as 2048 dimming zone and large-size products;

2. Developing technologies of OLEDs for various screen sizes;

3. Developing portable display technologies involving emerging solutions such as Mini LED and OLED;

4. Developing technologies of smart display equipment that are largely based on IoT interactions.

By investing in research institutes, laboratories, research teams, and intellectual property applications, HKC continues to strengthen the R&D of components and raw materials and endeavors to develop end products. The display manufacturer intends to launch more new products in the future.

Indeed, HKC has competitive advantages in supply-chain strategic development, production capacity, cost and customer base, which is likely to help increase the penetration of Mini LED-backlit products. To attract more consumers, the panel company released HKC PG27P5U, a Mini LED monitor at a relatively low price, the sales of which is worth noticing.
