A new TV is here to challenge Samsung’s outdoor TV, The Terrace

News Source:

In 2020, Samsung launched The Terrace, a TV that you can use outdoors, such as by the pool, in a garden, or, as its name suggests, on a terrace. It has the ability to withstand the elements of nature. So far, we haven’t seen many TVs, especially from well-known brands, that could compete with The Terrace, but that’s changing now with the launch of Skyworth Clarus S1, an outdoor TV that comes loaded with Google TV and screams trouble for Samsung.

The Clarus S1 is a Mini-LED TV that has over 1,400 lightning nodes and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. That means it’s a whole 1,000 nits brighter than The Terrace. Apart from HDR10, Skyworth’s TV also comes with Dolby Vision, a feature that Samsung’s TV lacks. Similar to The Terrace, it has sensors to automatically adjust brightness and color temperature, which is essential if you use a TV outdoors where lightning can change constantly.

While Samsung is adamant to stick to Tizen OS, Skyworth has gone with Google TV, a smart TV operating system whose demand is only increasing day by day. Although Skyworth hasn’t launched an outdoor soundbar like Samsung, it has equipped the Clarus with an 8-speaker audio system with an output of 100W. There’s also Dolby Atmos onboard. Similar to Samsung’s outdoor TV, the Clarus S1 comes in three sizes: 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch.

Being an outdoor TV, the Clarus S1 is waterproof, dust-proof, and even impact-resistant. It comes with an IP66 rating, which is more impressive than The Terrace’s IP55 rating. According to Skyworth, the TV has an all-metal body, and it has been “measured at the highest industry standards”. Skyworth is yet to announce the availability and, more importantly, the price of the TV, which, we guess, isn’t going to be cheap.
