SEOUL, Aug. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Display Co., the display arm of Samsung Electronics Co., on Thursday unveiled its new line of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) designed for automotive applications in collaboration with MINI, the popular small car brand that operates under the BMW Group.

The development was showcased at Gamescom 2023 in Cologne, Germany, The event is scheduled to take place until Sunday.

This year’s Gamescom marks MINI’s second consecutive year of participation as an official sponsor and a valued partner focused on mobility enhancement.

Within the grand arena of Gamescom 2023, MINI ingeniously set up the ‘MINI Incubator,’ an eye-catching cylindrical exhibition tower positioned at the heart of its booth.

The tower houses a captivating arrangement of 10 round OLEDs, each with a diameter of about 24 centimeters, marking the industry’s pioneering use of such technology, exclusively supplied by Samsung Display.

The core theme of the exhibit revolves around a futuristic laboratory concept, reminiscent of iconic science fiction environments. The amalgamation of artistry and technology is vividly portrayed within the tower.

Samsung Display further solidified its presence through a dedicated booth situated adjacent to MINI’s exhibition hall. Here, the company provided insights into its specially tailored OLED offerings optimized for mobility applications.

Among the features highlighted were eco-conscious panel design that significantly reduces plastic usage, unrivaled true black with an infinite contrast ratio, adaptability of design, and advanced technology aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of blue light.
