MSI reveals availability for first 500 Hz and 1440p Mini LED gaming monitor

MSI has outlined fresh details about its first Mini LED monitor to combine a 500 Hz refresh rate with a 1440p resolution. Like the MEG 271Q before it, the MPG 272QPX may never actually see the light of day after its Las Vegas reveal.

MSI has provided new information about a gaming monitor it showcased a few months ago. To recap, the company brought the MPG 272QPX to CES 2024 in Las Vegas at the start of the year. Since then, MSI has now released multiple monitors it exhibited at CES 2024, including the MAG 341CQP QD-OLED and MPG 321URX QD-OLED. However, it did not indicate during CES 2024 when the MPG 272QPX would be available.

In summary, the MPG 272QPX centres on a 27-inch Rapid IPS panel like many recent MSI monitors. With that being said, the monitor has been designed to operate at 1440p and 500 Hz, a relatively unknown resolution and refresh rate combination. Additionally, MSI claimed that the MPG 272QPX would offer full array local dimming (FALD) and 1,00 nits peak HDR brightness courtesy of 1,152 Mini LED dimming zones.

According to TFTCentral, the MPG 272QPX may never reach mass production. Arguably, MSI has been here before. While the company presented the MEG 271Q Mini LED during CES 2022, the monitor has not been heard from since. Instead, the monitor shown as the MPG 272QPX was a 'custom built as a prototype for CES'. TFTCentral adds that MSI is still unsure about developing new Mini LED monitors, adding that there is no guarantee MSI will actually commit to releasing the MPG 272QPX.
