Paralimni-Deryneia mayor Giorgos Nikolettos and Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) director-general Adonis Yiassimidis signed an agreement to replace the energy-intensive streetlights in Paralimni with smart LED lighting.
According to a statement released by the municipality, the project will begin immediately and aims to significantly improve street lighting services while reducing energy consumption and contributing to smart city infrastructure development.
The agreement also includes the installation of 11 electric vehicle chargers, seven in Paralimni, two in Deryneia, one in Frenaros, and one in Achna.
The mayor expressed satisfaction with the agreement, highlighting the financial savings for the municipality and the encouragement it provides for residents and visitors to use electric or hybrid vehicles.
These initiatives, he added, are part of the municipality’s efforts to develop smart city infrastructure.
