Taiwan LED suppliers saw revenue surge from increasing demand in mainland China

The February revenue of LED suppliers of Taiwan which sell most products to China mainland has grown substantially due to the sudden demand surge in low-price IT products in that market.

Among these LED makers, Bright LED Electronics Corp. saw its February revenue up by 68% to NT$247 million (US$7.2 million), with shipments to mainland China now accounts for over 60% of the total. Urgent orders from mainland are mostly for low-priced mobile phones and PCs, according to the executive of the company. Bright LED have got confidence that the economy downturn won’t be of so severe influence for the company as long as it caters the mainland China as the major market. And the company is said to have been in cooperation with Chery Automobile in China to develop LED lamps.

Supplying LED signage for mainland China market, Genesis Photonics Inc. had a 69% rise in its February revenue which was NT$60 million (US$1.7 million) from January, and has received NT$80 million (US$2.3 million) in orders this month.

With most of its LED products going to low-priced mobile phones in China, Unity Opto Technology Inc. had its revenue of NT$171 million (US$5 million) last month alone, surging 41% from a month earlier. And the revenue is expected to rise by another 30% this month, estimated by the company.
