Round 2 of The “LED - Emotionalize Your Light” Competition, The Three Best Lighting Concepts Have Been Chosen

Following a successful first round of the “LED - Emotionalize your light” competition supported by OSRAM and Siemens, the three best lighting concepts have been chosen. In the second stage to follow, the design community will discuss and develop 10 of the 530 entries online. Ultimately, the ideas on the round two winners’ rostrum will be those that have been improved the most during the competition. The winners will be announced on 4 August.

The aim of the “LED – Emotionalize your light” competition is to develop viable lighting solutions that users can afford and are easy to operate and install. A total of 530 ideas from 86 countries have been entered in the competition at www.LED-emotionalize.com. Using application scenarios, graphic designs and technical specifications the participants presented their creations to around 800 community members and the professional jury of senior OSRAM staff and selected media and design experts.

At the end of round one the jurors awarded total prizes of €5,000 to the three best projects. The winning ideas entitled “Light Shell”, “Garden light” and “Chromatic Ball” can be viewed on the contest website. During the second stage of the competition 10 selected LED lighting concepts will now have the chance to claim prizes for the most improved ideas. This top 10 is undergoing further development and fine-tuning by the design community until 23 July. During this period it is possible to register on the website to participate in the development process by providing suggestions, comments and evaluations.

On 4 August the expert jury will then award cash and non-cash prizes totalling €2,000 to the round two winners. Design community ratings will also contribute to the results. Plus, the most active members can win attractive non-cash prizes.

The online platform for the competition was set up by HYVE AG in Munich.
