Philips launches New LED Lighting Products in North America

Philips Electronics NV launches a new range of consumer lighting products in North America include LED Line.

Lighting products include a fixture and are intended for other applications, such as recessed-can lighting. Many of the announcements were made earlier this month at the Lightfair International convention in Las Vegas.

The LED line comes after several major lighting companies and Home Depot Inc. (HD) released consumer LED lights as an energy-saving alternative to incandescent bulbs, as the companies compete for this market ahead of a U.S. incandescent bulb ban beginning in 2012.

Emerging markets have been a strong source of sales growth, while developed markets like North America also posted solid sales.
