Smart Streetlights Proven Successful Across Canada

Update on National Demonstration Program for Adaptive Street Lighting

Streetlight Intelligence Inc. ("SLQ") is pleased to announce that the "National Demonstration Program" for its Lumen IQ™ street light optimization technology has proven successful with cities and utilities across Canada.

"Turnkey demonstration kits have been assembled and shipped to 28 municipalities across Canada to date," states CEO, Vince Krynski. "Each municipality has committed to a 2-3 month field trial to familiarize themselves with our Lumen IQ™ technology and experiment with its energy saving, performance monitoring and reporting capabilities."

With an estimated 6.5 million street lights in Canada today, SLQ believes there exists an opportunity to realize major energy, maintenance and greenhouse gas emission savings - simply through more efficient operation of the country's existing street light infrastructure.

The demonstrations have provided very encouraging feedback in terms of the Lumen IQ™ system's ability to significantly reduce street light power consumption and accurately measure and report power savings. For example, according to Mr. Kelly Hewson, Technical Advisor for FortisBC Inc. (www.fortisbc.com), "The Lumen IQ(tm) products performed very well, met expected criteria parameters and delivered the energy savings expected. A key finding of the field study was that dimming was virtually undetectable by both FortisBC and city staff while 30% energy savings were being achieved. Additionally, no negative public reaction resulted from the test site. In our opinion, the products can be recommended for full deployment".

14 field trials have been fully completed so far, and six cities and two utility companies are already reviewing the possibility for larger scale installation. Other participants have requested that their demonstration be extended beyond the field trial timeframe and, in some cases, that they be able to purchase the demonstration kits. With the cooperation of Natural Resources Canada, and in order to accommodate these requests, the National Demonstration Program has been extended until December 31, 2010, at which point a formal project report will be made available.

Additional feedback confirmed that SLQ's intuitive "Lumen IQ™ Central" software interface allowed for easy programming of streetlight dimming schedules and creation of energy and maintenance reports. Of particular note amongst many demonstration projects participants was the system's ability to accurately record and track all street lights and provide daily information pertaining to outages - so repairs could be affected in a timelier manner, thereby providing enhanced service and safety to the public.
