LED light farming In Korea

According to an interview from South Korea, bell pepper farmers are using LED lights used as a substitute for sunlight to grow the plant.

One famer in the interview pointed that they are desperately lacking sunlight because of the recent climate change. So they installed LED lights as a substitute.

For the past eight months this farm has been experimenting with using LED lights to grow bell peppers.

And the results were astonishing.Compared to the average farm yielding 37 kilograms of bell peppers per 3.3 square meters, the LED farm's harvest was 44 percent larger. Plus, the stems were 23 percent shorter than average which means less work for the farmers to alter the height of the plant.

In addition, this LED facility is run by an automated system where the temperature and humidity can be monitored in real-time.

Despite of that, it still hard to popularize LED light farming across the nation because of the high start-up costs.
