SemiLED issued more than 5 million shares to expand its LED production capacity

Recently, SemiLEDs Corporation (NASDAQ: LEDS) was listed for transactions on the NASDAQ Global Select Market, with the symbol “LEDS.” The company’s IPO (initial public offering) was priced $17.00 per share with 5,250,000 shares.

The company develops and manufactures LED chips including blue, green and ultraviolet (UV) LED, and LED components, which were primarily for general lighting applications, such as street lights and commercial, industrial and residential lighting.

The IPO would generate net income for SemiLEDs of approximately $79.0 million. The company planed to use these funds to expand its production capacity in Taiwan, which would develop LED chip production based on 6-inch wafers and decrease working capital, capital expenditures and so on.

Also, SemiLEDs would acquire or invest in complementary technologies, solutions or businesses or to obtain rights to such complementary technologies, solutions or businesses with some funds.
