OSRAM Opto Semiconductors’ Multi CHIPLED LEDs are used in the video display screens in the conference hall of Jinan Municipal Government in Shandong Province of China. The LEDs are selected for their high brightness, high contrast and advanced structure. Housed in black package that is impervious to ambient lighting with its close pitch design, the LEDs enable homogeneous video display and high colour fidelity.
Having the blackest LED package on the market and together with diffused resin, the Multi CHIPLED enables better contrast, thus the screen delivers whiter white and blacker black. The Multi CHIPLED contains three chips (red, green, blue) that can be driven individually to mix any colour required, meeting the demands of video displays.
“In the conference room, we often need to show videos while the stage is lit up,” said Paul Chou, General Manager of FormoLight Technologies, Inc. “Never before have we seen such good video quality and high contrast even in ambient lighting. Also, because of the homogeneous display across the entire viewing angle, our audience can see the video properly anywhere in the conference room.”
“The Multi CHIPLED is one of the black body LED products in MutliLED series,” said Kai-chong Cheng, Marketing Director of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Asia Ltd. “The MultiLED series also offers white body package for greater brightness. Both black and white package LEDs are silicon encapsulated and have an excellent long lifetime of up to 50,000 hours, keeping maintenance costs at the minimum.”
The video display market is set to explode with these innovations in LED technology. More and more LED video displays are being installed, from conference rooms to sporting facilities, from shopping mall facades to outdoor advertising space.
