Recently, Philips has made a deal with the Malaysian government to light a 63.1-kilometre stretch of highway, including the roads leading to Subang Airport, the Federal Highway and Middle Ring Road 2, with its LED road-lighting technology.
According to Philips Lighting's senior vice president and general manager for emerging markets Olivier Piccolin, switching to energy-efficient LED lighting systems for public infrastructure projects provided a triple-win proposition by improving safety and security, beautifying the landscape and reducing energy consumption.
It also helps to achieve a green-solutions status for Malaysia, as envisioned in the government's 10th Malaysian Plan.
Under Philips' Vision 2015, the company plans to further expand its brand and extend its lead in sustainability.
